  • No matter how busy Europe’s largest industrial recycling centre may be – the people living close by can always sleep peacefully. The plant’s security offices and fire station ensure everyone stays safe day and night.

  • Responding to incidents within just a few seconds – equipped with everything they need.

  • Plant security

The whole of the Lippe Plant is monitored closely. Each and every delivery is checked.

Everything well under control

  • The plant’s firefighters regularly carry out fire exercises with the local fire brigade

  • The Lippe Plant can always be relied on to do what is right – and this is certainly true when it comes to keeping the site safe. The team of firefighters at the plant (a good six dozen men and women) is an excellent example of the Lippe Plant’s high safety standards. What’s more, this team is held in high regard beyond the grounds as well. They help out the local fire brigade whenever their support is needed. Their comprehensive knowledge of how to handle chemicals is particularly useful here as is their range of special fire extinguishing media, which the local fire brigade does not store at its station. Indeed, the fact that the Lippe Plant has these special extinguishing media on hand is one of the reasons why the site has such an outstanding safety record.

The industrial fire engines and their friends in action

  • Not only are our firefighters always on standby, our vehicles are, too. Our fleet has all the fire and rescue trucks we need – from industrial fire fighting vehicles all the way though to our environmental protection unit.

Recycling’s very own Fort Knox

    • Find out more about logistics at the Lippe Plant in the chapter an overview of the site

    • Simply enter the grounds and take a walk around the site? That’s not possible at the Lippe Plant, of course. Part of our security concept is to have all entrances monitored by our security staff 24/7. This team is also responsible for all plant logistics as well as for the equipment used to weigh the trucks. Up to 700 lorries travel to the site every day. Any lorry arriving without a weighing slip approved by our system has to be weighed on site. That is normally well over half of all the vehicles – which means that there’s quite a lot of weighing to do each day. By the way, trucks can be weighed at our plant 24 hours a day. The weighing equipment is manned from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.. The weighing process is monitored by our security centre during the night shift. For the most part, the drivers carry out the weighing of their trucks themselves.

The trucks are weighed using a state-of-the-art, partly automated weighing system. One of the three weighing areas can even be used by the so-called “mega-trucks”
